Maybe following the API of ggvis would be better than following ggplot.
I haven't gotten it to run on my machine, yet, but from the looks of the API, it should fit well with Vega. Hadley certainly seems to be cranking away at it.

That's a great idea. I didn't realize Hadley was so busy with this project.
I can run some of the ggvis examples on my machine, but it's erratic. Trying to follow this API seems like a good idea. My one concern is to avoid competing with Gadfly too much.
Maybe following the API of ggvis would be better than following ggplot.
