I've downloaded the file and can confirm that the TIFF file that is created by the HeightAboveGround tool cannot be opened in QGIS. I'll need to dig a little further into it to see what is happening.
This tool ouputs a lidar file rather than a raster hence the invalid TIFF.
That being said, there is a separate issue, at least with this file, because the resulting LAS file doesn't seem to be correctly structured. lasinfo from LAStools is reporting all sort of weird values with a probable mismatch between what the header contains and what the rest of the file contains.
I am running the
HeightAboveGround
command with standard las file (which works for other tools) but the produced geotiff is invalid. When opened in GIMP it reports "Not a TIFF or MDI file, bad magic number 16716.
My exact command is:
I can provide the .laz file if you can't reproduce without it.
