I tried the solution from https://github.com/ivanmejiarocha/micro-service/issues/2 (why not updating the README?) but that didn't help.
I tried:

export CXX=g++-4.9
./build_dependencies.sh

and also tried

export CXX=/usr/bin/g++
./build_dependencies.sh
