Description

As TMDB and TVDB have different set of rules how to properly categorized a title, sometime there is a discrepancy between MAL (or basically all Anime DB in this point) categorization and western databases. Thus, when it happened, user wouldn't able to set properly media ID of the title for Trakt column, which based on TMDB.

On SIMKL side, user could manually input the media ID to the column as SIMKL uses absolute ID across database, so no matter what API points to, it will redirect to correct type. Happened a lot when AniDB does not add the title to the database.

Feature Proposal

  1. Able to set which type the title is, either shows or movies (+ anime for SIMKL)
  2. Media lookup/search modal could be adapted to the preferred type

Effects

The issue is observable to all TV Special and OVA/OAD entries on MAL, especially when special entry only have 1 episode total, which will be declared as "movie" by TMDB instead.

Examples

yes, I noticed those examples were BL bruh, but those are what I can remember so far with similar issue

Sounds like a useful feature, I've had the issue in the past as well. I'll look into it
