great job!
Tomorrow I will follow the entire tutorial step by step :)

But in my opinion, the support for push messages GCM, is fundamental in a whatsapp clone.

Please, Please.... add it!

here a simple tutorial how to configure a GCM service for phonegap... but I thik that for you will be simple adapt it to ionic.
