The initial IEPDs, which define the data exchange formats for data shared within MISE, include the following:
- Vessel Position (POS). A geospatial position, course, heading, speed, and status of a vessel at a given time. A series of position reports can be combined to produce track information.
- Indicators and Notifications (IAN). Indicators are information used to inform or contribute to an analytical process. Notifications include warnings of a possible event and alerts about the execution of an event.
- Notice of Arrival (NOA). A 96-hour advance notice that all vessels inbound to US ports are required to submit, which lists vessel, crew, passenger, and cargo information.
- Levels of Awareness (LOA). Defined and standardized levels characterizing how much is known about a vessel (and associated people, cargo, and Infrastructure) at any time.
- Vessel Information (VINFO). Static vessel characteristics information, a.k.a. Vessel Tombstone Data.
