Having a depth contour shapefile would be useful for spatial data products (maps) but currently we make the profiles for each product, it would be a time saver if we had an easy to download and filter shape files for depth contours

So if a TAF repo makes use of raw depth data, there will be code available to recreate the depth contours / shapes, but these take a long time to process and create. so making these depth products available as thier own product would be useful

Notes

  • are there issues with licences
  • Datasets required: GEBCO, EMODNET(?), NOAA

Ideas:

  • ask periklis to create a shapefile in GIS and make available
  • write a TAF repo to collate various depth data sets to make the shape file, and then use this in products downstream

@colinpmillar i have another meeting directly after the DC. I don't know if i follow this, depth contour files/services are generically available, so why do we need to recreate them?
