ppsspp64.exe crashes the whole Insider Preview Windows10 #11603
Comments
If we manage to take down the OS, that's a bug in the OS and should be reported as such - please do! Or possibly a GPU driver bug. But the OS should be able to recover from even really bad GPU crashes these days. |
That's easy to see by a quick search affects all vulkan apps/games, switch to D3d11 and it should work fine. There's not much need to have an issue opened about it in here outside of informing affected people since it's not PPSSPP problem, through a workaround could be to blacklist Vulkan for Win 10 18282. |
We should probably default to DX11 on Windows anyway for safety... but it's really overall a different issue. Agree, closing. |
@LunaMoo @hrydgard |
Bizarre. If you ever figure anything more out, please post here... |
Probably going to test it on virtual machine 🤔 |
It's unclear what you ment in your post, but the crash reported here was about crash of the OS, not crash of just the PPSSPP. Old ppsspp crashing itself could be a lot of already fixed problems as well as your ogl drivers problem since ogl drivers can be pretty buggy at times. |
Okay, sorry |
@hrydgard Microsoft's efficiency is unusually high this time. I reported this issue and they immediately fixed it in Insider Preview Build 18298 ! |
That's great, thanks for reporting @Narugakuruga ! |
Hi I can confirm this on my pc too Windows 10 insider build 18282 I just click the PPSSPP and it crashed the windows. For clarification, this is fresh windows instalation with updated drivers |
What happens?
When double click, ppsspp64.exe crashes the whole Windows10 and got a blue screen, actually green screen because I'm using insider preview.
This issue seems to only happen in Windows build 18282
End code : SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
The step that failed : win32kbase.sys
Don't want to bother you, but just worry if this issue will remain in the upcoming Windows 19H1 update.
What should happen?
ppsspp should boot.
What hardware, operating system, and PPSSPP version? On desktop, GPU matters for graphical issues.
CPU: i5-8400
GPU: GTX 1050Ti
OS: Windows 10 Insider Preview 18282
ppsspp version: 1.7.1 or later.
ppsspp settings: Default.
