Suggestion from Cambridge: To compare the relative efficiencies of the systems it would be interesting to look at a metric like nodes (and therefore price) required to reach a target performance. This makes clear the relative efficiencies of the various systems.

It would be good to do this. A couple of points that we need to understand before going forwards:

  • We need to decide what performance threshold to use for this comparison. How do we choose this without the choice being arbitrary somehow? Can we get advice from the users on what the minimum useful performance is?

  • Most sites do not yet seem to publish cost of access. We will need to get approved costs from the sites in order to do the price comparison and understand what is included in these costs.
