If screenshots of software interfaces are considered a derivative work of the software itself, then such images are open licensed with the whatever license the software uses (all featured software is open licensed) In particular we have a lot of screenshots of JOSM which is GPL licensed: https://josm.openstreetmap.de/browser/trunk/LICENSE In any case the *design* of software interfaces may not be assumed to be publice domain. Please consult the relevant software license.
