There has been a bug in nginx-ingress 0.22.0 which still redirect traffics to pods that are not ready, it has been fixed in 0.23.0 (reference).

Just wondered, what is the timeline to adopt this changes in helm chart?

Version of Helm and Kubernetes:
1.12.5
