Specify the crate type through a command-line argument when compiling the model, removing the need for the user to specify it in Cargo.toml.

Close #938

This provides more flexibility and the potential for making it easier
for the user to specify models.
This removes the need for specifying the crate type in the model's
`Cargo.toml`.
