The ability to communicate using sign language is a skill for which humanoid robots are uniquely suited. This is something that I am extremely interested in implementing. This should be possible to accomplish with access to a database of known hand signs and their corresponding meaning. A computer vision algorithm could easily identify signs witnessed by the robot's camera.

Could a robot be certified as an interpreter?
