Hi, folks. I saw lots of fun discussions after Y Combinator posted about Rune. I should update the README.md, but the main point of Rune is to share some cool ideas and hope other language devs pick up on them. I can't comment on Carbon, but Rune is in fact only a 20% project for a small number of Googlers. It is not ready for prime-time, and the quality is not as good as I would like. Most likely, it will never be a useful language on its own. That said, we do have some fun! For example, we convinced ourselves today that the type inferencing system is Turing complete (see tests/turingTypeConstraints.rn). So, enjoy poking around, and please feel free to use any good ideas you find. Re one comment: DataDraw is used to generate C code used to build the Rune compiler. The compiler does not redirect any Rune code to the DataDraw tool. We are very careful about respecting copyrights. Also, I wrote and own DataDraw :) |
