IDEA: Dev Containers or NixOS

Would there be interest or possibility to use dev containers or something like NixOS for standardizing the local runtime environment instead of requiring the host system to be configured correctly? I've never set this up myself but I've been interested in it for a while because I've worked on a team that did have it set up before and it was nice.
