ok/failed log files not trustwothy

There are two implemntations of checks for the processing status, at least one of them (including, but not limited to, level1d) will create *.ok files even if the processing is failling. It seems as if *.failed filed are never created. Therefore *.ok files cannot be understood as indicator that the processing is working as expected.

Check the log/*.err files carefully in any case.
