basically all the dependency gems are way ahead of the time, so you pretty much can't install it in new applications. also rails5 seems not to be supported.

But probably dead, since your comment is way back from 2017 and no one responded.
I would guess that the project was too complex and too niche for self-sustainable ongoing development.
Probably, smaller more narrow-focused gems took over.
@zoopyserg great analysis, I guess that is what happened. I left the project and it was too complex and too niche. I wish we had split the functionalities into smaller gems, which would have probably been more useful and easier to use
