And seems they are joined into one: water-polygons-split-3857.zip now, but which can be downloaded here as archived file https://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/openstreetmapdata.com-archive/2020-09-23/, but not via real data link.

Hey, why must this stuff always be broken when I resetup a new server?

Could you either add the openstreetmap.de link in the script or switch, so that setting up the style at least works?

Unfortunately nothing changed since then! I did not add https://tile.openstreetmap.de/shapefiles/ to the download-script to not give the people a false impression that these files are in any way up-to date and I did not close this issue on purpose.

This said. I am currently somewhat stuck with German Style for a couple of another reasons anyway.

Version 5.x of Openstreetmap Carto will need a Database reimport which I thought I could use for a redesign of the l10n stuff:

While this redesign would be ready for testing now. I figured out that flex-backend currently lacks a get_bbox function for relations.

So if you do a new setup now keep in mind, that i will do an incompatible change in the database used for German Mapnik style uses as soon as the get_bbox function will be available in osm2pgsql flex backend.

Well, the new setup was forced on me as the old service broke (and a new server was cheaper than the old one so instead of finding the error I simply did a resetup - Hetzner now has a 2TB SSD/64GB RAM machine for 63€). Works now mainly, except that mapnik backend for tirex has now a massive memory leak (working around with frequent restart for now).

If you don't get the changes finished in the next few days I'll wait with another update till next time in approx 2-3 years :-)
