Having the same issue:

Any news? Using the API does work.

I ran into the same problem. Turns out, you just need to run git config --unset extensions.worktreeConfig before the sentry action and it works.
Somehow, action/checkout uses it for sparse checkout, but the lib sentry uses to access git data does not: Ref libgit2/libgit2#6044 ?
