Alternative to bubble map on homepage

The bubbles on the map on the Tracker's homepage are likely to become unreadable soon as incidents rise. Is there a good alternative to the bubbles, like a heat map?

Also on bubble map: when you hover over a state and get the number of incidents, it would be great to get that drop-down to also include a category breakdown with the state's numbers.
