Good you're bringing this up 👍
What about sharedlists-like sync over an API? #396
Then there could be different datasource connectors, including datafoodconsortium.

IMHO datafoodconsortium should become our main API, also for communication with sharedlists (or maybe we can replace sharedlists with OFN in the future, since it doesn't get much love anyway)

That would be a nice idea! :)

Looks interesting!

Do you understand how deposit and tax can be handled with the DFC thing? I could not find those terms in their github repositories. I have no experience with API design and ontologies. That seems to be a strict and formal approach and I believe that we should not simply add "tax" and "deposit" properties at our discretion.

If we'd want to use DFC, we'd probably best participate in the discussion, so it can be integrated by the team in a way that fits well. Perhaps we could open an issue (as that's the only thing linked from the website), or participate in the OFN forums, which has a large involvement in there (I'd do that first).

I wrote a private e-mail in June 2019. That was the worst option I guess.

As a second attempt, I opened datafoodconsortium/ontology/issues/17 just now.
