fluid.normalize~ throws red but the patch works - this is confusing

@jamesb93 are you getting the bottom left graph to move around with the points?

ok this is a big problem - the normalize object check is corrupted as it gets the right size yet moans about point size... it seems that it might stem from multiple unnamed normalize in the patch... I'm trying to isolate so @weefuzzy can look at it but it is some sort of dark magic.
