I don't know if I am doing something wrong, but after updating to the latest Minecraft Bedrock version, the game dosen't detect the gamepad anymore. The only way to play is to map every button to Kb and mouse. Tried downgrading back to 1.19.50 or older, and the game recognizes the gamepad perfectly. As far as I checked, only 1.19.6 and newer, don't recognise Steam Deck's controls.

Mojang changed some gamepad handling code. I will fix this in the next minor update. Thank you for providing the info that it doesn't work in 1.19.60, but does work in 1.19.50 and below.

I have a similar issue, where the semi-colon, comma, and probably some other keys will not work after 1.18.12. I don't know if it's caused by the same thing, but I hope it can be fixed. I posted a formal "issue" here: minecraft-linux/minecraft-linux.github.io#79
