Trusted setup ceremony for Network V15 - "OhSnap"

Hello 👋 , just wanted to share more details about the upcoming Trusted setup process for network v15 Upgrade, which will be used to generate new circuits parameters that will enable SnapDeals on Mainnet.

With the OhSnap upgrade, we are introducing a set of new proof parameters for the very first time since we launched the Filecoin mainnet.
The external trusted setup ceremony will start on the 11th of January and will include ~15 participants from various teams, all over the world.
It will take place until the 26th of January of 2022.

Important dates:
New generated parameters will be available:

• for testing on the Calibration net from 2022-02-08,
• used on Mainnet from 2022-03-01

Adding more details about the verification for the new circuits:

Why should everyone trust the output of the trusted setup ceremony?

For the new circuits, that we build to enable Snapdeals in the Filecoin network, the outputs can be trusted if the transcript is entirely verifiable, and you need to trust that at least one of the participants did not leak their contributed randomness in any way.

For the entire trusted setup ceremony, we manage to gather a diverse group of participants: major contributors from within the Filecoin ecosystem, miners with competing interests, as well as individuals and teams from other parts of the Web3 community. Also, one of the key factors was that participants were spread all over the world.

In doing all of this, we aimed to reduce the risk of collusion and increase the probability that at least one contributor per circuit would be deemed as sufficiently trustable - thereby guaranteeing the integrity of the output parameters.
