Issue in editing a fact-check

After editing a fact-check by clicking on the required fact-check and making required changes, when we click on update to update the fact checks it gives the following error dialog 'cannot publish post without author' even if there is an author selected. But when we click the settings icon, open and close it without making any changes and click update, then the fact check is published.
