reduce details on appointments in year view

When dealing with multiple events per day in the year view the icons (alarm, invitation) and appointment times are shown on the labels. I think it would be better to disable that details in the year overview and show them in a popup on mouse-over.

I would really like an option to not show multiple events per day, but only a small indicator that there are one or more appointments on a certain date. Maybe that would be faster, too?

Could be. Less boxes to draw, less loops on day events.
But it will lost event editing functionality.
I'll try.. but I think most of the time is spent in event ordering...

I think the strong side for a year view is when you see Tasks with multiple days. Right now, a 5 day event gets 5 boxes one each day with a tiny text in it. What about having a big box what covers 5 days and having one text in it. That's less confusing and easier to see. Also it looks like a gantt diagram, what also fits well in that view. Great job you have done here...
