Notifo lets you send push notifications to the iPhone (and more soon). The API has some really nice wrappers for python and setup is extremely simple.
EDIT: On second thought, I think this would work better with HN meetups.
Use case scenario:
There could be a check-in option on the HNOfficeHours site for letting the parties involved in the meeting know you are at the meeting.
The push notification could also be used to share change of plans or cancellations.
