Based on comments and considerations by @sosey, @eteq @montefra and others in #2, I'll experiment with using Cython instead of ctypes in the underlying xpa interface for pyds9.
As @cdeil mentioned earlier in that issue, a final decision about best practice will have to be considered by you experts once we have something to compare.
