Explain room history visibility to me when I join a room

What would you like to do?

When I can't see all room history, I'd like to see something that explains what's going on when I land in a room.

I know this is complicated by the fact that room history visibility settings can change over time.

Why would you like to do it?

So that I'm not confused when I land in a room and can't see any room history. Is this a new room? Am I not seeing anything because I've been invited in a way that has fallen foul of the limitations of room history key sharing? What's going on?

How would you like to achieve it?

See a message at the top of the timeline that says something like:

• You can only see messages that were sent after you joined.
• You can only see messages that were sent after you were invited.
