Your use case

What would you like to do?

When I realize I need to do something, I want to be able to do them from any screen in Element. These actions often start with

• Join a room
• Find someone I speak to
• Find a room I'm in

eg "Oh crap I need to message Charlie about the meeting" (look for Charlie to do that)

Why would you like to do it?

I want to be able to do this to save myself time thinking which space something is in, finding it in the list, selecting it and then searching/filtering.

How would you like to achieve it?

A spotlight search that can use keyboard shortcuts to open and navigate it seems a common way to enable this kind of context switching flow.

Have you considered any alternatives?

Using the selected room area of the UI to show search input and results
