Your use case

What would you like to do?

Users who have been spammed by IRC reconnect notifications or otherwise have a long backlog will have a difficult time accessing things when having to scroll back and visually try to identify anything they have missed. Other platforms have convenient filters to make this more useful, and it would be a big improvement to do the same.

Have you considered any alternatives?

Lots of scrolling / skimming
