Steps to reproduce

  1. Element starts with a white screen as described in Element desktop starts with blank screen #1074
  2. On Windows went to AppData>Local>element-desktop, ran "Update.exe"
  3. Verify that app was updated:
2024-06-07 09:14:41> CheckForUpdateImpl: Downloading RELEASES file from https://packages.element.io/desktop/update/win32/x64
2024-06-07 09:14:41> FileDownloader: Downloading url: https://packages.element.io/desktop/update/win32/x64/RELEASES?id=element-desktop&localVersion=1.11.68&arch=amd64

Based on issue discussion, deleted AppData\Roaming\Element\GPUCache. There is also AppData\Roaming\Signal\GPUCache but is locked even though Element is not running.

Outcome

What did you expect?

Element would start running again, since issue was supposedly fixed by #1332

What happened instead?

Element still displays a blank screen after deleting Element\GPUCache.

After rebooting system Signal\GPUCache is still in use and cannot be deleted. But Element is running correctly.
Closing issue.

Operating system

Fix is to both delete Element\GPUCache and reboot system. Deleting cache and killing/restarting Element did not work.
