Speaker (Loud?) button missing, was there with riot.im pre-riotX, missing now #2751

Ever since Element/Riot migrated from Riot.im to RiotX on Android, there has been no (loud)speaker button so that you can put the phone down and talk at a normal volume, just like if you were on a regular call. This is a really annoying regression, and is actually making people less inclined to use the app.

Can we please get this feature re-instated so that we can be all happy people again? Thanks!

Consider yourself lucky that the earspeaker works for you. It's not the case for everyone, see #1685

The audio speaker settings can be opened with the three dot button during the call, although it wold be better to have a speaker icon, which would toggle the sound devices if there are 2 (earspeaker, phone speaker), and display a context menu if there are more (e.g. bluetooth speaker, headset, earspeaker, phone speaker).

Going into the 3-dot menu we really didn't see the option for it. But even still, why hide something that's so heavily used like that? Make it a dedicated button, that is also clearly visually explained what it is.

I would suggest to rename this issue to make it more clear that the loud speaker button should be moved out of the three dot menu.

Also, it should be possible to activate the loud speaker during the calling phase. (Just wanted to add that, because both issues are somewhat connected)

To give an example why it should be moved to a more prominent place:

Imagine you are cooking in the kitchen and calling someone, first of all, you want to enable the loud speaker, but it is not possible because you cannot do this during the calling phase. This costs some annoying seconds where you are forced to pay attention to your smartphone in a situation where you really do not want to.
Now, the person you are calling accepts the call and immediately starts to speak, but you cannot hear it - this causes confusion on both sides - and again - is very annoying.
To fix this, you have to enable the loud speaker in every call individually by manually clicking on the three dots, clicking on speakers and then selecting the loud speaker from another pop up menu of available speakers. This is not convenient even if you have got the time for that, but in this example you are busy cooking a meal and just want to talk to the other person where the missing button literally forces you to use another app.
