@alexfrancoeur help clarify for me. What would you expect if I searched for "analytics"? A search result for all the entry points under "Analytics" in the left-hand nav? |
Yeah that was the intent, but I had assumed this worked for other groupings as well. It doesn't seem to be the case. We can do one of three things. Close this one out because I made a terrible assumption. Make the change only for Analytics. Make this change more broadly for groupings, using an alias for each grouping. |
I'm in favor of option 3 - repurpose this issue to focus on adding all solution/grouping aliases. It seems like a nice thing to do in one fell swoop as it may feel a bit broken to have Analytics return results and Observability not. |
@alexfrancoeur |
That was not directed at me, but I can confirm that this ^ has been a key driver from the outset. |
Cool. Solution/grouping aliases supported in the nav supports the goal. |
+1 on this. We should be able to easily auto-inject aliases based on the app categories. |

We have mixed grouping for applications that fall under the analytics use case. The homepage and overview page shows Kibana, and there is a Analytics grouping in the left hand nav. In search, we show the analytics grouping but you cannot search on it.
I'd like to propose that we use aliases (#76778) for
Kibana
andAnalytics
to return the applications under the analytics grouping in the left hand nav. Thoughts from the group?cc: @kmartastic @VijayDoshi @ryankeairns @pgayvallet @joshdover @thesmallestduck
