Any updates on this? my 2¢: having/enabling the option, despite the called out shortcomings, is better than not having it. For situations where the labels appear weird due to space constraints, the author can determine to either not show the labels or change their axis to support less data/buckets, deal with it or disable it. In the mean time, users who can profit from this feature will be get great value and your team can continue to work on figuring out solutions to those other nuances. Thanks! |
Thanks for your input @govindrai , I can see your point. Personally I think it’s justified to make this move. @ghudgins @markov00 any opinions on this? |
nothing but agreement from me! I think the reason this hasn't made progress is the dependent line vis issue in elastic-charts. @flash1293 this might be a good one to try to help the datavis team on since they're busy doing other amazing things in the short term also happy to add this to the supported types in the meantime too. I don't think this issue runs that risk of adding too much configuration that we sometimes discuss on the more granular settings. |
I would just like to agree with @govindrai |
Thanks for you +1 @apolinario - we have planned this in for the near future. |
Currently Lens allows to show the values of individual bars for unstack non-histogram bar charts. As this includes a lot of configurations we should resolve existing issues to roll out the rest of this features.
Problems:
* Histogram bars: Labels can be wrapped in a weird way or not shown at all because labels are too narrow:
* Area / Line charts: Not supported by elastic-charts yet: https://github.com/elastic/elastic-charts/issues/797
