Describe the feature:
In the experimental "controls" visualization > an option where you can easily switch the indexes.

Describe a specific use case for the feature:
Now it's very easy to select for example username, it would be amazing to be able to select the index it's gaining information from. So that beside the parameters like username, you can also make a filter from which index it's the information is coming from.

Example: I have a dashboard with forum information. We like to filter it per "subforum" so we can see "they said this on that part of the forum" or who are the top 10 contributors on this part of the forum. We have indexes with all forum information (example: forum* ), subforum (example: forum_subforum* ) and indexes like forum_subforum_profiles*, we can filter with controls on forum*, but would also be cool to filter on forum_subforum*, so we can see top10 users on that specific forum without the need to create a separate visualization and dashboard.

Closing in favour of the variables initiative - once the concept of variables is introduced and we can create controls on these variables, it would theoretically be possible to create a control that determines which index is being used 👍
