Series labels #3686
Comments
Agreed, this would be really nice to have. We'd have to come up with some kind of logic for determining when they are too many labels to show and disabling them automatically at that point. I suspect that isn't a very common case though so it shouldn't be too bad. |
+1 Just an idea: for viewing multilevel pie charts (pie charts with nested aggregrations) online, if the donut view option is selected, you could display a bucket label (for my specific purposes, the field name, or a variation thereof, would be perfect) centered in the donut hole (perhaps in a relatively large, bold font?), as a tooltip. That might help users better understand what each level of the chart is displaying. Yes, I know that you already get a tooltip that includes the field name, so in a sense, what I'm suggesting is redundant, but I still think there's value in concisely highlighting to the user what the "ring" they're hovering over shows. Perhaps you could consider this idea when implementing #3402 ? For example, rather than displaying a tooltip in the donut hole (which requires the donut view option, although I guess you could dynamically display that hole as part of the tooltip, whether or not that option is selected), highlight the appropriate level-specific subheading in the legend? And then there are touch devices to consider. No hovering. If your user interface relies on hovering to display labels, then, on touch devices, your charts are, to quote @bradvido, "just pretty colors". |
+1, bar chart also needs. 4.2 can fix it? |

I would definitely like to see "omitted" labels counted and shown as other. and also mine |
this is really annoying that we don't get this. people stick to their static reports which provide that OOB |

Hello, Were currently using Kibana 5.1.1 and we wanted to do the same with our Pie chart that all labels are automatically display without hovering it. Is there someone know how to do it? or how to implement it? Is there any plugins needed for this? Thank you in advance. |
Adding my +1 to this. :) |

It would be nice if we have an option to choose if we want to see the pie chart results on offline mode which don't require from us to hover the pie to see the results like the example below or online mode.
This feature is very good for presentation purposes, so we can take a dashboard screenshot and add this to the presentation.
The hovering will gives us further data, but the basic will be without hovering.
