Hi,

I tried out the new Maps feature in 6.7 and while I think it is pretty awesome and a good step in the right direction, the fact that we cannot add Maps to a dashboard severely impacts real world usability.

For example my users are all "dashboard only" users, meaning Maps won't show up for them. Even if it did, it means that they manually need to filter for data that normally would be taken care of by the dashboard pinned filter. They would also likely need to have two tabs open as the dashboard has other visualizations that help interpreting the Maps data.

Maps is THE feature that was missing from Kibana as far as I'm concerned. It is really great we now have it, but without dashboard it won't get the use it deserves.

Are there plans to make Maps compatible with dashboards in the near future?

Edit: Nevermind, looks like this is a goal for the GA :)

Anyway Maps is really cool and I hope it gets plenty of additional development in the future.

Full embeddability: Embed maps in a dashboard, and have them behave just like any other visualization on a dashboard. Send filters from the map to the Kibana global filter bar, and have global filters and queries sent from other visualizations apply to your map.

Hi,

thanks a lot for your feedback. This has actually already been addressed via #31473 and from 7.1 onwards you'll be able to also add Maps to dashboards.

Cheers,
Tim
