When discovering data, it would be really handy if like the data table, you could click on cells to add that value as a filter, eg. in this case the fedora hosts looks interesting, so I'd like to drill into it:
kbn-doctable-filter
Currently you have to open the record, find the relevant field and click to add the filer. This would be a nice shortcut to speed up discovering the data you're interested in.

I'm back and forth on this one, I agree it would be nice here. One consideration is we're planning to introduce field formatters which would allow you to transform values, potentially into things like links, so you might not want this behavior in that case. Maybe we could do +/- buttons to one side on hover?

I think +/- buttons on hover would be perfect! Wouldn't clutter the screen, but would allow users to drill that way if they desire.

+1 for this. It would be great to be able to click URL fields right in the Kibana dashboard and have it open in a new tab, for example.

@jasonrhaas you should be able to click URL fields in master/4.1. This issue is about being able to click fields to add filters.
