Describe the feature:
navigation_fast_access
Allow the search bar at the top center of the UI to show the most recently used tools by the user first and then list the other applications.
Describe a specific use case for the feature:
Since the navigation pane lock feature has been removed one quick way to move around the UI with the search bar would be to populate the most recently used tools while also maintaining its primary function as a search through all of the other tools. I often find myself in a operational loop where I'm working with a few specific tools within the UI and this would allow me to transition easily from one to another, outside of utilizing multiple tabs within the browser.

Hey @osmanis - I was speaking with a customer on this (@FreerideTheWorld) and he raised this as an idea.

Do you know who it might be best to speak with to triage this for evaluation?

@ryankeairns @sixstringcode Very interesting idea to expand the global search bar to include recents. Could be a way to reduce complexity on the left nav as well by removing recents there.

+1 makes sense to me, too. I would note that what was is being asked here is not exactly what we have in the left nav... the left nav is recently viewed 'objects' whereas this is suggesting recent apps as opposed to the current alphabetical listing.

Presuming that is how this goes - recent apps as opposed to objects (or perhaps we can figure out both) - we'd need a mechanism to track recently viewed apps.

@osmanis @sixstringcode here is an old issue tracking this and other ways to improve the default search content. Perhaps we can link and close this issue in favor of the existing one.
