With the introduction of full screen mode, one of the next logical steps for the kiosk / NOC use case is to cycle through dashboards.

  • A user should be able to define a group of dashboards to cycle through and the interval at which they should be transitioned.
  • A dashboard should be able to be assigned to multiple pre-defined cycles
  • There will need to be some sort of interface that allows you to "play" or "cycle through" the groups of dashboards

This would likely be dependent on grouping dashboards #1547

@snide, these are the k7 mocks I have, but I'm a bit stuck on how to translate them to K6. Like where the Next Page would go, and deleting pages, adding pages, etc.

Any news on this? Is this feature still in the the pipeline? Would be great to be able to have the ability to cycle between dashboards which have been mentioned here and on #15120.

Have recently been working with Kibana and while there is the ability to cycle between pages in the canvas section, it doesn't really have the ability and interactivity of the dashboards themselves.

Would be great to see in the in action.

cc @timductive - just want to highlight @Cr3idhne's comment above as we were just discussing this.

@Cr3idhne - This feature it not currently in the pipeline, but hearing your feedback will help us to prioritize going forward, thanks!

I have created two dashboards, one for server A and one for server B. Ideally I could set a way to rate between the two of them every 30 seconds or so. Would be awesome!

@alexfrancoeur

You can try using Kibana Presenter . It is simple, customizable and ready to deploy.

I am also working on adding new features including custom timekeeper, multiple groups of dashboards, templates and advanced dashboard management console.

There is also a gitter for the repo if you have any additional questions

Starred and gave it a try already, glad someone took the time to do this!

Any updates or ETA on this?

Hey @bevano8 we still have this on our radar for dashboards, although there is no clear ETA on when we will get it done. In the meantime, we have made it much easier to embed your visualizations into Canvas which does have this feature today.

Would absolutely love to see this feature for dashboards!
@timductive, is there a guide for how to embed visualizations into Canvas for us users who are not familiar with Canvas?

Hey @josephtillman11 here is the documentation for how to embed visualizations in Canvas. https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/current/canvas.html#add-kibana-visualizations

Yeah, I saw that was added and works very well.

If this is the path forward it might be nice to add a way to easily add a Kibana Dashboard as a page in Canvas, though I could see managing the aspect ratio and page size being difficult.

@wrathagom Yes, we have that on our todo list as well to make it easier to transition back and forth. Although, I think there is a strong argument to make for adding some of these features directly to Dashboard. No timeline on much of this yet but we are actively thinking and discussing this.

That all sounds great!

This would be a feature we would find very beneficial to us as well. Would love to see some progress on it, any updates?

This would also be useful for our operations dashboards:)

Closing this we haven't prioritized it or done the proper exploration on what this feature would mean for Dashboards in 8.x. The effort is very high, and would warrant a full project's worth of effort.

We may reopen this or discuss this functionality in the future.
