[Lens] Formula count and quick function count() result in different charts #123695

Kibana version:
v8.0+

Describe the bug:
I create a Lens chart with Count of records, I switch to formula. Although the script is correct count(), the chart is different from the previous one

Expected behavior:
I would expect the same charts here.

@stratoula This happens because we can't sort by formula and the top values function is switching to alphabetical. I agree it's not ideal but I'm not sure whether we can do something about it.

you know what we can do about it..... #86184

and then potentially enable the client sorting approach by default when a user transitions to formula?

They are two distinct things. The correct term here is rank rather than sort: it is not possible to rank top values by a formula, so client side sorting will help only when Alphabetical and metric ranking match the same top values terms.
