  • The elasticsearch integration should function in stack monitoring correctly (minus any issues with the package itself). (manual steps to come)
  • Functional tests should be created and pass for the metrics-elasticsearch* data
  • Identify any issues with the package

Adding acceptance criteria to keep in mind when testing new Elasticsearch package:

Install Elasticsearch package via integrations UI and test few options in the UI to make sure it works

  • Collect only metrics (uncheck logs)
  • Collect both metrics and logs

Following set up should be looked at:

  • Multi node cluster environment
  • Viewing multiple (at least 2) clusters data

Following use cases/data points should be reviewed to make sure things are working properly:

  • Cluster listing page (more than 1 cluster)
  • Cluster view page (overview, nodes, indices, logs)
  • Cluster overview (search and index graphs, recent log entries, Shard activity)
  • Node listing page
  • Node details page (Overview - various graphs, recent log entries, shard legend | Advanced)
  • Indices listing
  • Indices details page (Overview - various graphs, recent log entries, shard legend | Advanced)
  • Jobs
  • CCR
  • Alerts workflows in UI, active alert workflows in UI
  • How we identify stack monitoring data is present and any initial messaging in self-managed and Cloud
  • Review collected logs to verify that they can be viewed in the Logs UI
