We added the nice multiple-sort capability to Discover in #41918 (7.4+). Some users prefer the old way or would like the ability to sort on field1, then if they click on sort on field2, they would like to see sort on field1 automatically disabled, etc..

It will be nice to provide a way for the end users to toggle on/off the multiple-sort capability so they can switch between the old and new sorting behavior based on their use cases.

@davismcphee I'd consider this as blocked, until there's a solution on EUI level? elastic/eui#4826
