Let's make sure issue is not already fixed in latest builds first.

Suggestion

The find/replace overlay does not provide an easy way for opening the search and replace input fields drop-down menu containing their history. The existing find/replace dialog provides this functionality by different means, depending on the operating system:

  • On Windows, pressing up/down keys navigates through the history entries while pressing Alt+Up/Down opens the drop-down menu
  • On MacOS, pressing up/down keys opens the drop-down menu and there is no option for navigating through the entries without opening the drop-down menu.

We now have consistent direct navigation behavior across all operating systems via the up/down buttons. I propose to implement Alt+Down (maybe also Alt+Up) as general shortcuts for opening the drop-down menu across all operating system.

  • I understand suggesting an enhancement doesn't mandate anyone to implement it. Other contributors may consider this suggestion, or not, at their own convenience. The most efficient way to get it fixed is that I implement it myself and contribute it back as a good quality patch to the project.
