[Resolved] Pi 3B+ with LegacyPixels MT32-Pi hat not booting — 7 flashes

[Edit: Embarassingly, I've determined that what I was told is a 3B+ is just a B+ Pi so that explains the issues. Can't figure out how to delete this so I'll leave it up]

Hello friends,

I've been trying all evening to get my MT-32 Pi to boot to no avail. The Pi boots fine when I try flashing different images. I've tried multiple SD cards. When I try to run MT-32 Pi, I get 7 lights flashing on the Pi and nothing else. I tried renaming kernel8.img to kernel.img and that gets me to a spot where the LEDs aren't flashing at all but still not to a bootable state. I've tried powering the Pi separately from my Mister so I don't think it's a power issue. The cable is the one supplied by LegacyPixels so I assume it's good but also not relevant if it's not booting on its own power.

I'm kind of stumped as to what to try next. I would appreciate any suggestions.
