Memory usage

Whilst we no longer claim reduced memory usage or improved performance, it is still important that we maintain a competitive memory footprint. On some low end laptops, there have been reports of the system slowing down because of ram usage. Whilst I realize that it is not a major concern in comparison to the ui breaks caused by proton or windows, but optimizations should be applied where possible.
