ANONYMOUS is in general a very bad idea security wise and it's highly discouraged so I think this would be a good idea and will clean-up the code a bit. If we then also drop COOKIE auth support (#727), we can really simplify the auth code and pipeline the client-side handshake better (making it go much faster).
