What is the best way to show around 100'000 values?

I would like to have a bar chart with hourly consumption of the last 20 years. This would be 20 * 365 * 24 = 175,200 values. Unfortunately the performance is decreasing here. Is there a simple solution here?

use sampling to reduce the size to one month basis, so 12*20 entries, should be fine.
