It is currently possible to improve Cobalt nativeBars in your app. You can add custom buttons or items by overriding one or two function.

But this could not be easily shared with others like the plugins are. We should add a Class that enable the developper to create custom bars items.

Something like an AbstractCobaltButtonItem. it may need a CobaltButtonItemsManager.
